CINCINNATI (AP) — A suburban Cincinnati man has pleaded guilty to molesting children after telling their parents that he was an underwear market researcher.
Ben Hawkins pleaded guilty Wednesday to nine charges of importuning and three counts of gross sexual imposition.
Prosecutors in Hamilton County say Hawkins looked for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 16. They say he arranged to meet parents and children at schools, hospitals or at their homes and told parents he needed to measure their children’s underwear for research.
The 44-year-old from Springfield Township could receive a maximum of 44 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 29.
An after-hours message seeking comment was left Thursday with Hawkins’ lawyer.

There must have been some sort of monetary payout for parents to have been such suckers. Also.....scheduled meetings as schools? Give me a break! Parents have to check in at schools to see their own children! Somebody in school administration dropped the ball big time on this one.

As a parent, just the subject of 'researching underwear' of all things would have put up a million red flags.

This is both sad and naive.

Wake up people!!!!

I find it stunning that some parents would deliver their children right into the hands of a molester based on such a bizarrely transparent story. But, like P.T. Barnum is alleged to have said, "There's a sucker born every minute."
