How could we tell? They'll crawl out from whatever rocks they've been hiding under for eight years and now "bravely" investigate every belch.

Looking back through history, the press has always been currupt, one way or the other. In the beginning, there were the pamphleteers, and they only presented one side (to a mostly illiterate public). Then there were the yellow journalists ("You furnish the pictures, and I'll furnish the war"). Then the syndicators (Pulitzer and the like).
Most people get their news from TV (shockingly) and have so since 1970.
As a US Supreme Court Justice once remarked, "The truth comes from many mouths."
Read a lot of sources.
Make up your own mind.
Don't take ANYBODY'S WORD for anything without confirmation.

I go with my nose to sniff out the truth
more times than not I am correct in my instincts
Those that blindly follow, say the NY Times or Hannity on the other side are advised not to
It's not black and white (print on the fingers)

I don't think the media is something that Obama is likely to change.

If only he would bring back the fairness doctrine
it worked well for decades
and maybe the rule that one has to be American to own media here, without conflicting interests like Murdock has.
