I am an Army Brat married to Gulf War I vet. I have no personal military experience. I have a question that someone here may have an answer to though.

My Dad, WWII vet spent time during the war in the Philippines. (thin Red line stuff) He's 81 now and having some weird health problems. He suffered malaria and some fungus thing and skin problems back in the War. He was actually hospitalized for over a month back then. He is trying to find out through the VA what it was so his Dr. can figure out a way to help him now. The VA has told him that there are NO records on him and they will not treat him or do a search. Anyone else ever hear of this and is there anything that can be done? Thanks for any ideas anyone may have.

Try this link - http://members.aol.com/forvets/htomr.htm . If your dad has his DD 214 from his Military Service he is entitled to VAMC care. Sounds to me your dad is also entitled to a Service Connected Disability as well, from what you stated above. Get a hold of a Disabled American Veteran Service Officer and explain the problem - their site http://www.dav.org/ . And also try the Veterans of Foriegn Wars - their site - http://www.vfw.org/ . This is a link to check out as well - http://www.usvetnet.com/ . Get a hold of your Congressman and Senator for assistance, thats what they make the big $$$ for. Good link also to check out - http://tmkc.netfirms.com/vetinfo.html . Do not quit on your Dad's issue here. That is what the VA and Goverment of this land wants you to do. Good luck MysticWarrior and I hope your Dad gets the help he deserves - for sure!

Thank you so much Bammo, I will start to work on this asap. At least there is somewhere to go. My husbands dad was a Viet Nam vet and has had so much trouble getting anything done through the VA as well that I just figured it was hopeless. Again Thank you.

No problem at all MysticWarrior. You ever need any help on the above subject, feel free to IM me and I'll do my best to help you out on your Dads matter. Any Vet that needs help should get that assistance from another Vet. That is what is called brotherhood and "SUPPORT". Hope you can get all that is coming to your Dad from the VAMC -- for sure! Hang Tough and keep the faith!
