The religious right's era of unquestioning Christianity is over. In fact, Americans have incredibly complex feelings about God and country.

And it's long over due....

I remember being exposed to early evangelical Christianity while still in my teens....

"A chink in your armor" was the principle message...

A trend that would have continued, had it not been for two things...

The first being the ever so slow but gentle introduction to the history surrounding early Christianity...

The second being one's own personal experiences (both successes and frustrations) concerning that point of view...

I think Deepak Chopra does a brilliant job of highlighting this issue in his work, The Third Jesus...

Another book, How Jesus became Christian is another along those lines...

Of course, most evangelicals are going to see that point of view as a threat to their business, their purpose in life...

That's fine...

Those publications are only meant for decently minded people anyway, at least those of us who just want to live and let live...

In any event, hightened awareness is generally making it's way through the media...

I know myself, I am, a lot happier these days as a result of all this...

Much to the dismay of the evangelicals...

Oh, that's right, most of whom didn't give a craps ass about you anyway, at least, not at the expense of their egos....

A song comes to mind...

QUOTE
I see your dirty face
Hide behind your collar
What is done in vain
Truth is hard to swallow
So you pray to God
To justify the way you live a lie, live a lie, live a lie
And you take your time
And you do your crime
Well you made your bed
I'm in mine

Have a beautiful day!
