Everything that Bush denied was going to happen during his campaign is swiftly coming to pass. <_<

Aren't we glad we can say, "Don't blame me, I voted for Kerry" ? tongue.gif

They?

I believe they would be chicken little.

The military doesn't want a draft. The vast majority of the American people would not tolerate a draft. Congressmen don't want to commit political suicide by reinstating a draft.

Who does that leave who wants a draft? Who keeps trying to frighten everyone the draft is coming? Who would benefit if there was a draft? If there was a draft support for the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism would evaporate overnight, it would be like during the Vietnam war all over again. Fill in the blank on who wants the draft.

Well, GWBushco is going to want a draft- just as soon as he starts running out
troops. Which may not be far off. So there's one person for 'ya,

Then, since none of these neocon jerks have ever been brave enough to go to war, I will add a few more names of folks who would have no qualms:
Cheney
Wolfowitz
Rice
Rummy

need I go on ?

"They" say the Earth is flat. "They" say we never landed on the moon, it was all special effects taped in Nevada, or maybe that was Roswell, I forget. "They" say evolution is a hoax, all those fossils were planted by Satan 4,876 years ago to distract the faithful believers in the King James Version of Holy Text. My favorite "they" is the Man Will Never Fly Society, a cheerful group of aeronautical engineers who fly into Kitty Hawk annually to reaffirm the impossibility of manned flight (slogan; birds fly, men drink), at least they are completely tongue in cheek.

The always lovable Honorable Charles Rangle introduced a bill to bring back universal conscription then voted against his own bill which failed 400 to 2. The top brass of the military have no desire to return to conscription. "They" dropped this unattributed inevitability towards the end of the Presidential campaign, and have yet to provide any substantiation for it.

We live in, as the ancient curse tells it, "interesting times", and there are things that worry me in the wee quiet hours of the night, but reinstitution of the draft or anything else "They" say do not even come close.

'Twould seem quite a few here be wantin' a return to the draft, else why would they keep askin'bout it? Methinks there be maybe at least 11 or 19 threads on this subject spread throughout the forums, with new ones poppin' up every day. 'Twould seem it is a popular idea, at least on this web site, eh?

I guess some of you have not noticed that Bush and his people are liers. They say no draft? Why should I believe them now? Soon there will be shooting with Syria when US troops persue people across their border. Is this a good enough reason for a draft? If not they will create another reason.

Man, that would suck to be drafted...

No, just because I don't fit ur cookie cutter definition of maturation, doesn't mean that you are right about things that people just don't have the energy to argue with you about.

Strangely that's what I said in 1966. The only difference is that at that time there really was a draft, and now in the U.S. there's none and IMHO no realistic chance it will be reinstated, the stated desires of many here not withstanding.

In the Netherlands Antilles they say "Bon Pasco, Bon Anja"

In Albania they say "Gézuar Krishlindjet"

In Armenia they say "Shnorhavor Sourp Dzunount"

In any of these languages "Merry Christmas" is what they mean!

Neither side can really say one way or the other if there will be a Draft. It is just opinion on both sides. Having said that, however, I would say if the Government wanted a Draft, they would just need to create another 9/11 type false flag operation, and blame it on Iran or Syria, and I believe the population would practically beg for a draft.
