By Bob Woodward

The top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan warns in an urgent, confidential assessment of the war that he needs more forces within the next year and bluntly states that without them, the eight-year conflict "will likely result in failure," according to a copy of the 66-page document obtained by The Washington Post. America Has Been Here Before

American and NATO generals running the Afghan war amazingly warn they risk being beaten by Taliban tribesmen in spite of their 107,000 soldiers, B-1 heavy bombers, F-15s, F-16s, F-18s, Apache and AC-130 gunships, heavy artillery, tanks, radars, killer drones, cluster bombs, white phosphorus, rockets, and space surveillance. According to Rep. Alcee Hastings on Washington Journal this morning (who read McChrystal's report), he hasn't asked for more troops. Hastings read a line from the report in which McChrystal himself says the most important thing to take from this (his initial report) is that a change in overall strategy is needed.

As Alcee Hastings went on to say the 21,000 troops Obama is sending to Afghanistan are still being sent now and he went on to say that he scorns the self-promoted "Congressional Colonels" in the House and Senate who spout off for more troops without knowing a damn thing about what is going on over there.

I agree with him. Those who want more troops in Afghanistan without understanding should sign up and get their ass on over there. In fact all those who foment for war should be placed on the front lines no matter age or gender.

Just my opinion.
