By Thalif Deen

The report, which was favourably voted by the 47-member Human Rights Council in Geneva last month, received overwhelming support Thursday in the 192-member General Assembly. Israel has probably the best record in history for dealing humanely with civil wars, if that can be done at all.

Rememer Jenin?

Several years ago, rather than simply dropping a few 500 pounders on this hotbead haven of suicide bombers, the IDF put its soldiers in harms way, fighting door-to-door in the enemy's own neighborhood, so as to minimize harm to the innocents BEHIND WHOSE SKIRTS these SOBs are hiding.

So, given the fact that living with the threat of suicide bombers (thank you, Yassir), or the raining down of Qassam rockets (thank you Nasrallah and Hamas), it becomes necessary to clean out the swamp.

Are we Americans so thoughtful of innocent bystanders? Do our video gamesters in Nevada have special software to keep their Predator-launched, laser-guided Hellfire missiles from hitting women and children in AfPak?

I don't think so.

I give the IDF extra credit for doing a superb job of dealing with an awful problem.

Israel and the USA are two peas in a pod in this regard--hence their co-dependent relationship...

I think they are more selective than we are. Our soldiers call in air support who blast the hell out of the "target." The IDF doesn't call for an airstrike until there has been enough commotion on the ground to scare everybody from the building they want to take out.

We could learn a lot from the IDF.
