We are organizing Americans who oppose Bush to attend the Inaugural Parade on Jan 20 for the Turn Your Back On Bush (TYBOB) action. Organizers are planning a peaceful, non-violent, law-abiding protest for grassroots Democrats to express our oppostion to Bush by turning our backs on his motorcade at a given signal during the inaugural parade. The action is an innovative and mainstream strategy that will follow all the rules and regulations being posted by the Presidential Inaugural Committee (http://www.inaugural05.com/) in a atmosphere of extremely tight security. We will carry no signs, banners, posters or any other prohibited items and therefore expect to be allowed through the security checkpoints that are being established around a "red zone" security perimeter.

I urge each of you to attend!!! Please visit www.turnyourbackonbush.org for addition information. I am helping to organize people in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, so please feel free to contact me at teresa@turnyourbackonbush.org. I may be able to assist you with transportation and/or accommodations in the DC area. I will be departing south Alabama on Tues. Jan 18 and leaving DC for home on Friday, Jan 21.

Those who cannot attend but want to support this important effort, visit the website, download the flyer, make copies and distribute it or post it in appropriate places.

I received the following email today-anybody know what group is organizing this protest?

PLEASE FORWARD TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN!!!

"Not One Damn Dime Day"

Since our religious leaders will not speak out against the war in Iraq, since our political leaders don't have the moral courage to oppose it, Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is "Not One Damn Dime Day" in America.
On "Not One Damn Dime Day" those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending. During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money. No one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.
On "Not One Damn Dime Day," please boycott Walmart, KMart and Target. Please don't go to the mall or the local convenience store. Please don't buy any fast food (or any groceries at all for that matter). For 24 hours, please do what you can to shut the retail economy down.
The object is simple. Remind the people in power that the war in Iraq is immoral and illegal; that they are responsible for starting it and that it is their responsibility to stop it.
"Not One Damn Dime Day" is to remind them, too, that they work for the people of the United States of America, not for the international corporations and K Street lobbyists who represent the corporations and funnel cash into American politics.
"Not One Damn Dime Day" is about supporting the troops. The politicians put the troops in harm's way. Now 1,200 brave young Americans and (some estimate) 100,000 Iraqis have died. The politicians owe our troops a plan - a way to come home.
There's no rally to attend. No marching to do. No left or right wing agenda to rant about. On "Not One Damn Dime Day" you take action by doing nothing. You open your mouth by keeping your wallet closed.
For 24 hours, nothing gets spent, not one damn dime, to remind our religious leaders and our politicians of their moral responsibility to end the war in Iraq and give America back to the people.

Greetings, Mr. Bush
Bush is a member of the Unification Church, is he not?

Turn your back, we should send this message to our senators and representatives when bush gives his state of union address, instead of the democratic party kissing up to him.

There might still be some Democrats still in the House from my state, but the Reps have been stealing every vote they can, and we have few Dems left.

I hope some of them have the balls to do this, but not counting on it.

The "Not One Damn Dime Day" on Jan 20th sounds like a real winner if the word gets around. Hoping it does!

God bless you and this effort. This has been a groundswell moving through the nation since 11/2. Amazing, though, that:
I HAVE NOT HEARD ONE WORD ABOUT IT ON ANY NEWS PROGRAM- PERIOD!
WHERE IN HELL IS THE NATIONAL MEDIA!

If anybody is going, please, please contact a reporter from your paper today!
Take pictures, take notes, and send them in, or deliver them to your newspaper.
Give them the story. Be the media for them, and maybe, the news will get out there.
