I will be at a local Democratic Party monthly meeting tonight. I am trying to assess how much of a public relations issue the Dem Party has right now so that I can address this to the membership of the meeting.

I have voted Democratic consistently since I could vote in 1972 (I have voted for a few Republicans, never for President) and expect to in the future.

I have a wife and two young children and to me the future of this country is MUCH, MUCH bigger than whatever anger, justified or not, anyone might have with John Kerry and/or the Democratic leadership in general. For all of the flaws of the Democrats it seems pretty clear that on the whole they offer a better choice than the Republicans do.

Gosh, I looked at the results and they were 100% and I thought- finally ! We have reached pure consensus on something ! Then I noticed only two people had voted sad.gif

The day is early- let's find some common ground and common sense on this

I am a Republican

I voted :
2004 Kerry Edwards
2000 Gore Lieberloser, Hillary
2x Clinton Gore

Local and State I have always voted on the best person running out of the crap that
runs

That is the real problem not a party but who runs. There are so many losers running where are the real, honest, good people

Oh were talking politics

I chose answer #3. If the Democrats don't start calling out the real enemy of corporate inhumanity, privatization, and profiteering, I will start voting for a 3rd party that does.

You might tell them that refering to Bush voters and "uneducated southern whites" and Uninformed masses" is quite a problem. The super intelligent democratic leadership ought to be courting voters not insulting them. Hey maybe the term "religious " can be struck from the democratic dirtywords book too. Add in "religiophobia" too. Honestly the republicans ran a campaign engine fueled by liberal elitism and pro- USA -Pro God fuel, and elitists burned nicely!!! If they want the people to vote for them, even the "uninformed ones" then inform them, excite them, and get them to like you. We need a candidate that sets big goals and dreams....Like a Kennedy speech about being on the moon before end of decade...Make a speech about fuel independance or rights for all including religious. Include everyone in the battle for human rights and respect. Rights activists on the democratic side want not only theoir rights, but to deny others theres. They also wish for government and private companies to pay for their "rights". The democrats can indeed make the rights case, But they also should include in their doctrine RESPONSIBILITY!!! It would be a huge winner!! smile.gif

I dunno if I will vote again. If you went to Disneyland, the CEO of Disneyland came and robbed your wallet, and the Disneyland guards pretended like nothing happened, would you go back to DIsneyland? No way.

I chose #1, I am a diehard and fully respect and admire John Kerry. The democratic party needs to make some improvements, in particular when it comes to organization so that they may better use their resources, but I don't easily give up.

I tried being an independent, very occasionally have voted for a Republican for a local office because they were the best choice, but the bottom line is, you throw your vote to the winds if you vote indie. So, the democratic party, in its best moments is the closest to what I believe. I'll continue to work with the local party and online to help make whatever changes we can.

I am a lifelong Democrat.. as is my family. I vote regularly and with very few exceptions, I have always voted Democratic. I donate time and money to support my party and candidates.

But please tell them from me that it is unlikely that I will continue. I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact, that I can not be a Democrat any longer. And it has ZIP to do with Kerry losing or even whether he was the right candidate. I supported Kerry and still think he was a good choice. My decision is based on the events after the election and events since the so-called Regan revolution.

More and more, this party has sought to waterdown it's values in a misguided attempt to attract middle of the road voters. I believe the party lacks conviction and time and time again simply allows the Republican attack machine to steamroll us. It's as if the Democratic party is afraid of Republicans and what Republicans will say or do if we stand to fight for what we believe.

So please tell whoever will listen that I am liberal and unashamed. If my party thinks my views are something they have to dance around and try to hide under the rug, then I have no choice but to leave the party.

Right now - I feel exactly as you do, although on some issues, I would not consider myself a "liberal"....I used to believe it still definitely fit with the dems...
