A couple of days ago, I wrote an article on Republicans and their draconian position on abortion:

So I thought I would give it a shot. Unfortunately, I only have a vague idea how to do this. smile.gif

The local newspaper seems a good place to start. The New York Times on the other hand might be a little ambitious.

I figure the folks in this subforum know a lot more about this than me. I've written a few letters to the editor, but for an editorial, does one actually write the editorial, or just send an idea?

Any links or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You do write the editorial, which is your letter to the editor. I'd suggest sending it to numerous papers. A friend of mine had a letter published in the NYT so you never know who may take it.

Moveon.org has a good suggestion list for writing letters to the editor. Generally, less than 250 words and letters directed at a particular article work well. I'm sure there are articles out about the new legislation coming out that restricts women's right to choose by allowing hospitals not to inform women of this option and the the new federal guidelines that exclude recommending that rape victims be provided in on the morning after, etc.

I think your comparison would work well as a response to one of those articles. The letter does not have to be directed at an article though, it could just be an issue.

Mediacorp on johnKerry.com also has some suggestions for letters to the editor.
