I was flipping through the channels tonight, and when I came to CNN, I saw the following headline at the bottom of the screen: "White House advisor James Baker urges Bush to enact phased withdrawal of troops from Iraq." (Not a direct quotation, but as close as I can remember).

When I saw this at the bottom of the screen, I thought, "Gee, that sounds AWFULLY familiar. Why, I could have SWORN I heard somebody propose that about six months ago as the proper way to get our troops out of Iraq. Who was that? Who is the brilliant mind who devised this plan? OH YEAH!!! JOHN KERRY proposed this plan of withdrawal back in friggin' SUMMERTIME. And as I recall, the Bushies all mocked and ridiculed his plan as being the silliest idea they'd ever heard."

You know, with each passing day, it becomes funnier and funnier to me. John Kerry was such a huge idiot who had nothing on his mind but HURTING this country. Yet every time Bush unveils a new plan to do, well, ANYTHING, it's a plan John Kerry proposed MONTHS AGO. Kinda like when John Kerry gave his Iraq speech in Missouri which outlined his plan for Iraq, then Bush unveiled HIS brand spankin' new Iraq strategy two weeks later and it was the EXACT SAME PLAN, and THEN they had the foreign policy debate in September and Bush had the audacity to claim that Kerry was trying pass Bush's Iraq plan off as his own. Or kinda like when Bill "Cat Killer" Frist claimed that John Kerry never sponsored any bills in the Senate, forgetting that just a few months before, John Kerry co-sponsored a bill increasing funding to fight global AIDS from $200 million to $4 billion with his co-sponsor...........(drum roll, please)..........BILL FRIST. Oh yeah. The "compassionate" Republican Senate killed the bill, in case you were wondering.

You are about to watch the neo-con implosion and the rise of the more powerful Democrats and Centrists who realize the errors of Bush's ways and already have plans on how to fix it.
heart
But the Dem's don't have any power. The "neo-cons" have been promoted to more important positions. The need for oil has not gone away. Iraq sits on the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world. Iran would come right in and take that over, the Turks would join, that would cause civil war. No oil for even longer then.

The failure's to stick it out are what OBL uses to rally his base. He consistently brings up our inability to shed any blood. He has the Saudis under serious, serious threat of a fall, but the fall would be to OBL followers. They would triple the price of oil AFTER the markets tripled it on their own. That would cause a world wide depression. Everyone would lose. The dollar would plummet more than it has as it is. That would be very bad.

They might be hiring an army of mercenaries, but that isn't getting us out of Iraq, it will just change the players. If that's the plan, it's riskier than the initial invasion ever was. But i wouldn't put it past them.

Sure hope you're right! But I wouldn't count on it. Bush winning a second term leaves me very perplexed about what 59 million voters really care about. No doubt the Rep. will run a more "moderate" candidate in 2008 who will attract many of those 59 million voters who may NOW be dissatisfied with Bush.

I hope so! It will be interesting to see how many Bush voters detract and seek refuge with the Democrats when Social Security reform hits the floor, more bloodbaths occur in Iraq, and when these Bush voters find they STILL cannot pay their bills. WILL THEY DETRACT?

Will we see more Democrats in Congress in 06? <_< 08?

It happened all through the campaign. Drove me crazy. Every time Kerry came out with any plan, Bush picked it up as his own. MSM constantly said Kerry's plan was not much differant than Bush's. They constantly ignored that it was Kerry's plan that Bush was spewing. It's no differant with Homeland Security and the 911 Commision Report. He fought them tooth and nail, only to brag to the country how he had created them. I hold MSM responsible for this. An honest media would go along way toward an informed country. What a joke! The joke's on us, the country and the world.

It's just like smegal's plan for SS right now. Nothing definite has been spelled out, just innuendos to scare people into thinking the US is going broke because of SS and then tantalizing 20 somethings with great riches when they're 50 and can go off to some happy resorts and on cruises and return to their mansions for a change of clothes. And the MSM is behind it all the way.

Smegal's plan will be presented to Congress and Hastert and Frist will pull the same thing they did with Medicare. No debate, no filibuster, just ram it through for their Lying Eyes and Smirky Grin corporate pimp boss. I just hope the Senate is a little brighter, but I have my doubts.

That's a huge 10/4 on that! In fact everything Kerry would suggest for fixing, those Bush slugs would weasle it into their propaganda ads to boost Bush's ratings up some. That's what this is now... just before GW's party on the 20th. They want to go into this 2nd term 'bash' with the 'all is well and getting better' image, so they are chatting up this troop reduction in Iraq... even as Iraq is actually getting worse.

Another tip for my friends on this forum. We will be entering Syria 'officially' sometime after Jan 30th. May be March but thinking it will be earlier. I suspect we have several commando units already in portions of Syria now... setting up shop for the official 'entry' into Syria. Guess where troops will be deploying to now out of Iraq? So, technically, Powell did not lie that "troops will be leaving Iraq". See the catch phrase there? mad.gif

I don't remember which primary debate it was, but it was probably in February or march of last year. Dennis Kucinich proposed a phased withdrawal over a 6 month period. The other candidates, including Kerry, dismissed the idea, saying that to cut and run is not an option.

SIX MONTHS? That WOULD BE CUT AND RUN!

Kerry never suggested we cut and run, he said, begin to withdraw troops early in the year.

Personally, I think we SHOULD cut and run BEFORE the BLOODY MASSACRE HAPPENS DURING THE IRAQ ELECTION.

I've been in a funk about Kerry, since I read Beamer's links yesterday relating to Kerry's positions w/r to the Iraq war.

And, I just want to give credit where credit is due --- Dennis was very straight with people about where he stood on the war.

What was the complete title of Howard Zinn's book about trains?
