Please let friends, family and co-workers in Texas know about animal adoption through the rescue/shelter organization "Citizen's for Animal Protection" (CAP) in Houston, TX. CAP sued the City of Houston in 1972, and successfully established animal rights laws that are still valid today. CAP has won several awards from PetSmart and the ASPCA, and has a four star rating from Charity Navigator.

Despite the accolades, CAP is in desperate need of volunteers, money and donation of land for a new facility (the current building is very small, resulting in small cages for the dogs). Yes, the Houston Oil companies gave more money to the Bush inauguration than to this organization!

The animals are sweet, despite being abandoned, neglected and depressed due to being in small confined spaces for long periods. One of the dogs, Larry Boy, refuses to soil his cage despite long hours of confinement. They have both mix breeds and some purebreeds (such as a 14 month old trained Lab named Max, who a person left at CAP since her "son would not take care of him").
