I was listening to Tavis Smiley's commentary on radio, and he was talking about Bush's meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. At the end of the meeting one of the members asked Bush about the Voting Rights Act, which supposedly expires in 2006 or 2007, Smirky said, "I don't know anything about it." AAARGH! What a joke! mad.gif

I am forever surprised at how much he doesn't know about when asked these kinds of questions in his press conferences and meetings politicasista. He should always take someone knowledgeable with him when he answers questions, who knows what's going on in the world.
No wonder he fought so hard for Con-do-leeeeeeeeeeza! And he trusts her too.
What would he do without friends?

I am very concerned that this could expire if the present people are in the House and Senate, because right now they are talking about determining how much Social Security benefits people should get based on gender and race. If one person held that view, it would be terrible, but a chairman of a committee, and without any rebuttal by any other Republicans? It seems that they intend to turn their voting fraud into the law of the land (not only by ignoring the fraud but by letting the voting rights act lapse). The renewal of the voting rights act should be at the top of the agenda, because it takes a few years for a law to go into effect. If they are not talking about renewal now, they may intend to let it lapse. (We should also remind Democrats that it is time to put it on the agenda.)

I read an article today about a renewal of anti-Semitism in France and Germany, on the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The French blame it on the 6 million Moslems in their country since WWII (ten percent of their population), but that isn't the whole story. A lot has to do with neglect of certain communities, and then setting ethnicities against each other, which seems to be what goes on here as well. Things are getting so ugly, I never know what to expect; in the same paper is an article about the release of mercury into the air in Ashtabula Ohio, and also the army planning to burn contaminated buildings in the Ravenna arsenol full of dioxins which cause cancer and endometriosis (and of course, Bush "helps" business by allowing them to set standards for the environment). Each bad thing cannot be stopped because while we try to plug one hole in the dam, another one opens up. I just wonder why they are trying to destroy our country and the world. They are not all going to fly up to heaven if they have participated in such destruction (says my Bible, anyway; I think theirs had chapter 25 of Matthew removed).

On the contrary, I welcome the expiration of these acts. What we need is a permanent constitutional amendment granting every citizen an inalienable right to vote, which cannot be taken away from them by anyone.

The disrespect and blatant attempts to prevent people from voting would not be possible with such a constitutional amendment. I don't want the current system to have any shred of credibility left. Because the credibility is just a mask with evil festering within.
