Their can be no doubt that FOX news is the single most important news organization in the US today.
Those anybody care to guess why??

1 . They have the largest fact-finding budget of any of the news organizations today, this makes it wonderfully simple to pick those news that fit the agenda of the week.

2 . Murdorchs media empire excelled in that particulary sport that Goebbles called the persived truth. IE make a story based on easely checked fact, then season it whit unverifiable innuendos and halftruths/Lies, to make up a wonderful totaly screwy history that you can turn to just about any thing.

3 . Always attack were the enemy is weakest and ignored the rest as if it never ever happend ala the ministry of truth in '1984'.

4 . Always attack whit an unviafiable accusation whenever possible.

5 . Always accoused your opponents for unfair biased attacks, wether they have made any or not.

6 . Smooch up to the powers that be so you have an inside track on exclusive stories, thrown your way as scraps.

7 . Talk to the lowest common denominator so people gets comfortet whit their own particulary wiew of the world no matter how simplistic it is, and remember Always confirm anecdotable beleif indirectly so people feels comfortet by the 'fact' that all french speakers eats frogs and hates americans, that all jews has big noses and controls the world banking industry (Uuuups... that one can from a speech in 1934). you get the idea.

Why do i startet this thread? Simply becourse it seems to many people have forgotten what a good propaganda ministry can do of harm...

We have to remember that Fox News is run by Roger Ailes. His background was not in journalism, but in political strategy. He even gave George W. Bush political advise during his first term and during the campaign -- why didn't all of the other networks publicize this conflict of interest?

I'm willing to bet its because Fox could nail the other networks on similar conflicts of interest. I don't know this for sure (although I've read rumors here and there), but its the only reasonable explanation for why the other networks wouldn't go after something that could hurt Fox's ratings.

There is a great web site that keeps tabs on all the misinformation coming from media outlets like FOX News. Its called Media Matters.

http://mediamatters.org/

NBC did not allow their staff to view other networks on election night out of fear of being influenced by them. During the 2000 election night coverage, every network declared Gore the winner of Florida except FOX news, who, despite the exit polls, called it for Bush. Then like lemmings, all the other nutworks followed suit and even apologized for calling it wrong. You can see this in Michael Moore's film "Farhenheit 911."

Other media outlets need to call out FOX for spreading propaganda and distorted facts. They need to call FOX News for what it is---a shill for the right-wing Republican agenda.

Huh...looks like Fox got it right...I dont see a problem here...remember, before the hand counts, Bush had over a 1000+ vote margin. The call made by Fox was, statistically, the correct one.

I disagree. For starters, check this out.

Second, the man who ordered FOX News to call it for Bush was his first cousin. I'm not a conspiracy nut, but this is to much of a coincidence in my book.

Largest markets, Australia, United States and soon Canada.

I dont know why it really matters that the man was Bush's first cousin. Keep in mind Fox had initially called FL for Gore just like everyone else. In the end (or at least when the initial first count was complete), FOX's call ended up being correct-Bush had 1000+ votes more than Gore. Now don't get me wrong, some critical comments of FOX are more than appropriate, but in this case, their call, no matter who directed it, was at the time correct.

I don't dispute the other things, but I seriously doubt this one. Fox has extremely limited news-gathering capability, relying on wire services and the occasional correspondent (i.e., stringer) rather than hiring staff reporters. All in all, I'd guess that Fox's news budget is significantly less than CNN or the big three broadcast networks. But then, Fox has only minimal commitment to real news coverage. Its emphasis is news talk.
