A rough translation...
Critic against the US silenced.
The former Swedish ambassador in Washington, Pierre Schori critisized the US for abusing the UN securety advisors to conduct foreign policies.
In a report he claims that the war in Iraq is a humitarian catastrophy. But the report was silenced by the Swedish government. According to Laila Freivalds, the Swedish foreign minister, you should not openly critizise another countries politics.

do they EXERCISE the same policy towards EVERY country or only towards the 'superpower', and whether in the same degree...

That's what I wonder too. I have found the Swedish media unusually quiet in regards to American politics since Bush became president. The Swedish press has always been very open in their reporting on American foreign policy prior to that.
Laila Freivalds was the minister who ok'd the kidnapping of the the two arabs, by the American plane that came into Sweden and whisked them of to countries where they would be tortured.
I find this very disturbing indeed.

Only...You are making the same mistake that Bush made when in Sweden...he thought he was in Switzerland. rolleyes.gif
FYI, Sweden and Switzerland are two completly different countries. Sweden would not need Swiss army knifes if/when they would go to war, they have a very strong army. Although they have not been involved in a war for a long time they have a compulsorary draft at the age of eighteen, so they would be well prepared.
However I do think that Bush has something to do with silencing of any critic in regards to his government, even in other countries....
