A typical catastrophic health insurance plan carries an annual deductible of about $1,600 for an individual when purchased through a large employer. That means the worker pays the first $1,600 of healthcare expenses each year. By contrast, under the more comprehensive, employer-provided health insurance programs common today, the company begins to pay after about $300 in expenses have been incurred. Deductibles for families are considerably higher under both types of plans.

How do people at the low end afford to pay 1600 bucks a year for healthcare???

I saw this on Lou Dobbs last night. The only ones who will benifit are the wealthy. You get a tax break for putting the money in an account for health care. Where do people who are stuggling to put food on the table and keep heat in their homes come up with money for these accounts. The spokes woman said people don't even ask how much it costs. She said they pay a $15 copay and don't care what an annual Drs. visit costs. What I heard her say was how dare people waste an insurance company's money on an annual Dr's visit. Is an annual Dr's visit too much to ask? Are only the wealthy intitled to basic healthcare?

I also saw in todays paper that under Bush's plan 90,000 students will no longer qualify for Pell Grants. Will the people in this country ever wake up? The middleclass and the poor are being destroyed by this administration. What will it take for them to see? <_<

You are correct. They don't want people to go for checkups anymore. These people are sick and demented. Hate isn't strong enough of a word for what they are doing to people in this country.

You know, in Missouri, a republican governor was elected...Blunt's son. He's already knocked 90,000 people off of medicaid in that state. Didn't take him long, did it? I imagine a good number of those are children.
