So much has been tossed around about morality and values yet few wanted to outline what those values were. This leaves them as open to interpretation as a newspaper horoscope. Maybe a better counter to the values issue is for the country to have one of its own, call it American Values and base it on what this country really has been about since the start.

To let people practice their religious beliefs, and not let them inpede anothers right to do so.
To give everyone a chance to prosper without hindrance from others agendas,
or because of their class, race, gender, orentiation, relgion etc.
To give a hand up to those who truely need it, not a hand-out.
Defend the weak and opressed.
To have responsible government that supports the policies proven to work
and find new solutions to those that don't.
A government that doesn't spend what it doesn't have and will find better
solutions rather than going into debt.
A government that will honor its commitments and not engage in ones it
can't honor.
A country that will learn to play nice with its neighbors but defend itself
if a bully comes along.
To hold in high esteem the American worker and assure everyone will
at least make a living wage and have a fair chance to compete for jobs.
And a country that will never let one groups agenda tie the hands of
the rest of the country because of their individual moral view.

Most importantly, a government will protect its weakest, the elderly and the unborn. We often fail in that regard.
