Got the notice last week. I'll be shipping out the 18th of April. Not sure where yet. It's been long overdue.

So why go? what on earth for? spend a year without my wife and son?

for what it's worth, i'm scheduled for two months of boot camp with summer followed by two months of technical training. if i do well, i'll be offered my commission in september... with the canadian armed forces reserves....

and i joined because of john kerry's service to his country...

Americania... I believe the Sarge is in the Reserves. I do not think he is in the Bush brown shirt mentality. He is going because he has to and hopes like hell to return to his family. No one with any brains believes that there is a fight for freedom going on in Iraq. Everyone would still be sort of free if Bush had not stept in S..T by attacking Iraq. The fight is over how much longer the dollar will be the world's reserve currency and of course 250 billion barrels of oil reserves. Those reasons are not suficient to put an adverage middle class American's life on the line. Iraq is not a serious war. If it were the sons of America's corporate masters would be serving and not just just guys who joined the reserves to help with floods and make a few extra dollars to support their families.

My daughter is going back for an additional year, and Gunny's son is going back soon too. Methinks both have indicated that there be much more positive that our forces are doing over there than you'd think reading any and all of the media, blogs et al. FYI to all I am still sitting on the Mushroom farm. Honesty gritting my teeth a little what the hell is going on. I've notified my employer... and I'm transition work to others and not picking up any new work in anticipation and doing a multitude of other tasks to prepare.

Still no assignment orders.... just the date April 18th. For all of you that have been there its business as usually for the military (hurry up and wait, and "need to know" bull)
