my god may not have the same name as yours
I ask for wisdom and strength to continue
to continue to prayer for peace in my window of time
and yes selfishly beyond
that if my prayer was the last one
finally needed to end the blood shed upon the streets
upon the floors of destruction that momentarily ago
were structures and monuments to our grand
ability to build today what may see tomorrow
i do not naively ask you to embrace the all of our world
the all of the children
the all of the races
the all of the nations
if be that request too great
I start the next step with mere tolerance
the eternal all is too big for me to grasp
for me while this time here, heaven can wait
to the greater power I leave then my fate
i ask for the great absences
the great subtractions
the great eliminations
of the blood shed upon the grass
upon the streets
upon the floors of what momentarily
were buildings and homes and churches
and hospitals and cafes' and stores
if i had voice to you i would sing the songs of my youth
of john lennon and bob dylan and cat stevens and paul simon
and arlo guthrie and they brought melodies and poetry to music
to say no more and no more and no more
it is so that simple
to say no more;
to the wars,
to the killings of the innocents,
to the death of the peace
to say and pray
no more
no more
no more...
