I wish Cornyn and Sptizer were on the same show. Wouldn't that be fun to watch. laugh.gif Maybe we'll get to see him paired up with Santorum. That would be equally interesting. biggrin.gif
JILLinaz
Cornyn and Schumer should be a pretty interesting pair! Schumer can show some spine, and I hope he uses it against Cornyn! Too bad it's on faux - will have to break down and watch it.

They will probably make Schumer go first and then have Cornyn. That is what they usually do when they have strong guests from the left. sad.gif They only pair them together when they have the weak ones. laugh.gif

MEET the PRESS: John McCain, Tony Zinni
Exclusive! Armed Services Committee member Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has just returned from his third trip to Iraq and will join us on this Sunday's "Meet the Press with Tim Russert" to share his thoughts on the war and U.S. troops. He will also discuss immigration, Iran, and presidential politics.

Then, Gen. Tony Zinni (Ret.), the former Commander of U.S. Central Command, has written a new book: "The Battle for Peace: A Frontline Vision of America's Power and Purpose." He calls the war in Iraq "ill-conceived" with "no end in sight" and outlines his strategy for "repairing America's international relations and Washington's response to domestic and foreign crises." "Meet the Press" has the exclusive first interview.

Tim Russert is moderator of "Meet the Press." Betsy Fischer is the executive producer. Michelle Jaconi and Rebecca Samuels are producers.

All coming up on this Sunday's "Meet the Press."

THIS WEEK: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. Sen. George Allen, R-Va.
Dire Warnings on Immigration Policy: As House conservatives warn President Bush and the Republican leadership that they'll pay a devastating price if they proceed with the guest worker program, I'll interview two key senators critical to the debate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Sen. George Allen, R-Va. Which of the two competing immigration reform bills will win out? Will critics of the Senate version succeed in using the "smear of amnesty"? And can President Bush bring his party together over this hot-button issue?

On our roundtable, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, ABC News' Martha Raddatz and George Will join me to debate the week's politics.

And it's opening day for Major League Baseball: ABC News' George Will visits the Philadelphia Phillies to go one-on-one with the man who could be baseball's next hero. Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, whose current 36-game hitting streak could grow to challenge Joe DiMaggio's record of 56 games in a row, talks about being in the spotlight and about his take on the steroid investigations.

can't find the rest..... sorry.

He did a very nice job when responding to Chris Wallace's ridiculous line of questioning.

Maybe these guys are just incapable of asking pertinent questions. They are such transparent shills doh.gif

I was busy watching cartoons with the kids, trusting my DVR to record it. When I realized the recording light wasn't on, I checked and it seems all my programed recordings are now an hour off. Ask me how much I love the technology Time Warner gives us. I caught the last four minutes of what he had to say. I'll have to rely up on C&L and other sites to give me the rest. There are plenty of Russ sites out there that will have everything covered for me, but I love watching things live.

I watched most of McCain and he is really pandering to the right.
Actually said something to the effect that "they do support our party." thud.gif
Russert tried to nail him several times but McCain is a slippery guy. Claimed what happened
in 2000 campaign was old politics and he was not one to hold grudges- this after he was shown a tape of himself hugging GWB.

Wish I had seen Feingold.

Sunday Talking Head Thread
By: Christy Hardin Smith

(Since Vice President Cheney isn't in the Sunday line-up today, I thought it would be safe to post this photo of a lovely quail sent to me by Tom in AZ.)

Here's the Sunday Talking Head line-up. Read it and…well, just read it. (Partially via the Providence Journal)

C-Span's Washington Journal: 7:45am - James Pindell, Boston Globe, New Hampshire Political Correspondent; 8:30am - Newspaper Articles & Viewer Calls
9am - Martin Walker, United Press International, Editor Emeritus; 9:30am - Mark Parris, Former U.S. Ambassador to Turkey (1997-2000) .

This Week (ABC): Democratic presidential candidate and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards; Republican presidential candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.; and Ted Koppel.

FOX News Sunday: Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn.; House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio; and the Rev. Richard Land, president, Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.

Meet the Press (NBC): George Tenet, former CIA director.

Face the Nation (CBS): Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Late Edition (CNN): Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind.; Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; former Gov. James Gilmore, R-Va.; Imad Moustapha, Syrian ambassador to the United States; Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Samir Sumaidaie; and Egyptian Ambassador to the United States Nabil Fahmy.

It is quite the mixed line-up this morning, isn't it? ABC starts with John Edwards and then goes to Tom Tancredo — talk about a shift in perspectives, from caring for the poor and uplifting those in need of a hand to Crazy Tom. Yikes. Fox News Sunday has the head of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Convention — think they'll ask him what the penalty ought to be for lying to Congress, perpetrating a fraud on the American public, dissembling on the road to a war of choice, and perverting our judicial system ought to be? Yeah, me neither.

Meet the Press continues the George Tenet buy my book travelling show. Dear Tim, please ask why Tenet felt that holding onto this information for four long years was acceptable — and how he thinks that fact ought to sit with family and friends of our soldiers stationed in Iraq and elsewhere, for starters. For my money, though, the most intriguing discussion possibilities are on CNN's Late Edition — because both Lugar and Schumer have been around the DC block long enough to know a fraud being perpetrated when they see it — and both have been outspoken critics of the Administration's lying smarm and medicine show. After all the revelations about Sampson having a notebook full of White House e-mails that likely have yet to see the light of Congressional sunshine, I'm hoping for a heaping helping of disgust, indignation and righteous fury — and that's just from Lugar, who appears to have had just about enough of the Bush Administration dragging his party into the smarmiest reaches of the gutter.

Here's hoping, anyway. What's catching your eye in the news and on the blogs this morning?
