Your legislators are aiming to build a reservoir in the Oak Grove area. They are working towards flooding 3,310 acres of land in the name of economic development.
Little or no consideration is being given to the homes that will be taken under Eminent Domain (which was created to facilitate necessary roads and bridges), cemetaries going back to the civil war era, gopher tortoise habitats, and some endangered plants (ie:Quillwort).
The reservoir will NOT create jobs to spur the kind of economic development needed so desperately in this area.
At a meeting held last Thursday in Franklinton, the reservoir issue came up. Mr. Nevers could not state what, if any, jobs would be created for the local community.
Don't you think that at this stage of planning, your Senator should be able to offer just a little bit more?
Let your Senator and Representative know that you are not in favor of this extreme measure that comes with no guarantee.
