" A smaller newshole, lighter staffing and reduced community service, leading of course, to fading readership, declining circulation and lost advertising. Plot it on a graph, and it looks like a death spiral for newspapers."

FROM THE NEWSPAPERS....on the Internet! you cannot buy all newspapers, allover the world, but you want to be informed! The same happens, long time ago, in Europe: few bought a newspaper.....who have the time to read them, with the morning coffee like before???? or on the terrasse of a cafe, in the city, during lunch????

Newspapers on the internet. I hardly ever watch television news. We get a weekly local Sunday paper, daily Wall Street journal and the NYT, LATimes, Washington Post, etc. on the internet.

NPR and other Radio, internet flash stories.

Do not get papers because the news is old.

Do not watch TV because the stories are too short. You cannot tell what is going on in 15 sec. sound bites

I don't think newspapers are going to die, though the current paper form may well vanish in the not too distant future. There is always going to be a need for local news, and frankly, there just isn't any way to really get it except from a local newspaper. In the future, though, they will be just on the Internet, or people will subscribe and get them via email.

Newspapers have already been surpassed as the primary source for big breaking stories. TV and the Internet, because of the time factor, beat them badly on this. But papers still have their niche. They have room for more indepth reporting and analysis. And then there is local news, which local TV stations only minimally report. And don't forget local obits, classifieds and the funnies smile.gif
