This post threw the Free Speech department into cardiac arrest (if you know what I mean), so I thought I'd post it here, where it may not require defibrilation wink.gif.

I watched the whole thing--thought it was pretty fascinating.

Embattled Professor Ward Churchill speaks on the controversy over his essay, his treatment by the media and the people calling for his firing, and even execution, for 'treason'. In this hour-long program, Prof. Churchill invites FSTV into his home to tell the side of the story told nowhere else on American television: his side.

Hey, you're making me hungry. I'm doing the network line-up--Ward's not answering my mails, guess he's probably un-plugged by now--last I heard the death threats were starting to bug him.

Oh, on the BQ--you know Jim Northrup's (Fond du Lac) line dontcha? "I'm a pint low".

Anyway, hope we won't have to get that defibrilator out any time soon, and there's always the chance of a subdural hemotoma, but that's usually not as difficult to handle as the cardio stuff.

(Yeah, I know, I watch too much ER--it's the local patriotism in me. Same reason I read the Onion)

Those folks at the Onion are pretty clever--multi-culturally so. You do know the lore about that, or no? The reason Chicago is called Chicago is that this is an Indian word (yes, my bad, i know not whether from the currently on the upswing Anishabemowin [Ojibwe language] or the now extinct except as Urbana mascot Illini) that translates basically as "stinky spot" from the smell of the wild onions that, according to most recent reports even still grow in the area. I noticed a while back that there's also someone on the edit. board with the name "Zwiebel" which is of course German for Onion.

Somehow I can relate to the kind of Babylonian wordplay going on there. Dunno why, but I can.

Oh, an as far as Malcolm is concerned (which is my black cat's name btw) with re Ward: speaks to my hypothesis that the same people who killed Kennedy, King and X are the ones now running the country.

I'm just glad people didn't "discover" Ward's chicken paper earlier--you do know he wrote it not long after wife, soul mate, love of his life, was tragically killed in a car accident. I suspect he barely had time to recover from that before the dogs of war came after him the way they did.

whew.
