2005 State Convention - Live Webcast Saturday and Sunday
Our State Convention begins today at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Our theme - "Democrats Protect Real People."

This afternoon CDP staff and hundreds of volunteers will greet and begin to register what will probably be a record number of Delegates. Many of them are new Delegates and new to the Convention process. It will truly be a pleasure to welcome so many new young activists into our Party.

As I have noted in past newsletters, this Convention will be like no other we have had before. Six different "Town Hall" meetings will be part of our general sessions on Saturday and Sunday - Delegates, elected officials, and Party leaders coming together to exchange ideas on budget, education, environment, consumer and civil rights, health care, social security and communicating the message.

I think everyone will get valuable information from our Town Hall discussions. We will again be offering a live webcast from our general session so that even if you can't be here with us, you can see and hear what your fellow Democrats have to say. This Convention is all about getting our message out - Democrats stand up for real people - and Democrats will stand up and do whatever is necessary to make sure that in 2006 Arnold will be known as the "One-Term-inator."

That fight is going on now as we battle against Arnold's irresponsible call for a $70 million dollar Special Election that California simply cannot afford. We cannot let the Republican right-wing agenda run roughshod over our State - and we have already seen that our grassroots actions have been extremely successful - in city after city, Arnold has been "greeted" by hundreds, and sometimes thousands of protesters. Californians are not happy with Arnold and his special interest cronies and that message is getting through, thanks to people like you.

Stop Arnold's Wasteful $70 Million Special Election
Now we have another way you help and have your voice heard. Launching today on our Web site is an online petition where you can really let Arnold know that you will not stand by as he breaks promise after promise to our kids, teachers, nurses, public employees, and under funds money for schools, transportation, and much needed services that Californians rely on. Please send this petition on to everyone you know - the strength of our message becomes louder with every voice that joins in.

And speaking of passionate voices - you can see DNC Chairman Governor Howard Dean's speech from our Saturday night dinner on our Web site. The video will be up early Sunday morning. Get inspired, then take action!
