John Edwards Speaks Out On Boyle Nomination
on Tuesday April 19, @10:08AM
John Edwards is taking a stand on the Boyle nomination for U.S. Court of Appeals:
"I continue to oppose the nomination of Judge Terrence Boyle to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. As a North Carolina Senator, I became very familiar with Judge Boyle's troubling judicial record, and it is on the basis of this record that I oppose his nomination. Judge Boyle's decisions have been reversed at a disturbingly high rate. His record on civil rights is especially troubling, including two rejections of his decisions by the United States Supreme Court. Judge Boyle has not earned a promotion, and I urge my former colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee to reject his nomination. We proved in the last Congress that when Democrats and Republicans work together, we can agree on qualified, mainstream judges like Allyson Duncan, who became the first North Carolina judge appointed to the 4th Circuit in over 20 years. I urge President Bush to follow that pattern of consultation and consensus in future nominations."
