i have heard said
folks who see vast
rolling pictures
of destruction
feel less pain
than seeing single image
of a scared mother
holding her barely safe
child against the
backdrop of despair.

This hits me also. I guess we can relate more personally to the single image. I remember the picture of the frightened, burned little girl running naked from a naplam bombing in Veitnam. It seared my soul.

I remember pictures of frightened, shivering children in Europe during WWII.

The sad and frightened faces of the Japanese children both here in America and in Japan during that War.

The terrified Chinese children during the Japanese massacres in China.

The frightened women, and children in Africa during the Famines, and Genocides.

The frightened children in Iraq, who though frightened, approached and accepted the offered candies by our soldiers.

These things speak to the soul of all who can still feel. And speak against WAR, and all man made horrors!
