Dr. Jill
Anyone who mistreats or kills animals (that is, for reasons other than self-preservation or to eat) is a potential serial killer in the making. I'd watch these boys, like a hawk!

These kids need serious therapy, since abusing animals has been proven to be linked to human abuse, as Jill mentioned. In most states, it's a felony charge now, thanks to the hard state legislative pushing by several animal advocacy orgs.

From the article:

An aquarium spokeswoman says the staff was "all very sickened" by what happened.

And I imagine heartbroken to sad.gif

This type of behavior can be laid at the doorsteps of the state and national governments as well as corporate America.

When children see elections being stolen, a man running for the highest office in the land being vilified and his reputation as an honorable defender of this country being smeared; when they see this country declaring war on another without real cause and criminals getting away with defrauding thousands out of their pensions, what do you expect???????

It's Bush's 'trickle down moral values'.

Where were the parents is the question that needs to be asked.
no retreat, no surrender
My immediate reaction was one of disgust that someone would do such a thing. However, I will wait until I hear the rest of the story before making a final judgement about the boys that were arrested. I have never been a fan of convicting people based on a story or stories in the media.

My immediate reaction, too, is disgust and I want to squash them all like bugs. Then I start thinking what could make 13-14 yr olds want to do this, and I start thinking of pedophilia and various forms of child abuse, and I want to squash THEM (whoever the guilty parties are) like bugs...

want to add another possible reason - simple lack of parenting (never told not to it cause hurting anyone is BAD!!!).

yesterday a young visitor watched cartoons, and 20s consisted of 2 women having showdown in the very best kickboxing manner. we asked her to come to eat.

home videos: the american idea of a funny video is

* somebody is kicked into balls
* kids hit each other
* throwing food into another's face
* somebody really getting hurt
* somebody destroying something

now, if that's mainstream, how can kids learn any better???
they learn from what their parents laugh at; and we all no that tv&ads influence kids as well as adults - or companies wouldn't spend billions annually on commercials.

unless general attitude changes...
