Hold military leaders accountable

Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Now that we know that top Army officers can count on being absolved of responsibility for anything that goes wrong in the lower echelons under their command (Plain Dealer, April 23), it will be interesting to see whether anything will change once Marine Gen. Peter Pace becomes chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It has been said that in the Marines, responsibility for wrongdoing anywhere goes clear to the top of command. Once upon a time, we even had a president who said, "The buck stops here" - and meant it.

I have always said since BushCo crapped on our democracy that it's been bush flavored mentality that has caused many command failures in the field. BushCo just has been good to sweep a lot of it under the rug protecting those 'loyal' commanders.

doh.gif I'm still waiting for anybody to be held accountable in this administration. notme.gif It seems
the only people who have been held accountable for anything are low ranking military members. anger.gif The people who should be held accountable have all been promoted or recieved awards. In this administration the buck stops here has a whole new meaning. It is spelled with $$$ signs. thumbdown.gif
