It is official, Veterans and Military Families for Progress is incorporated in Washington D.C! We are a C4 and a legal entity.

OUR MISSION

A progressive organization - ensuring legislation, legislators, domestic and foreign policy which are responsible for and to veterans, military families, active duty service members and the broader range of issues that affect them.

We pledge to:
Educate the public-at-large and the Legislative and Executive branches of the government as to the rights and needs of veterans, active duty service members and their families;
Advocate for and sponsor initiatives, legislation and candidates that support our goals;
Demand the responsible use of the military in foreign policy.

Most parts of the site are up and working, though the membership sign-up has to be implemented, so we are still using snail mail for a few more weeks.

There is a sign-on to the site so we can know who is on the site. Check it out and participate.

ACTIONS WE ARE PLANNING

Operations will be rolling out our first action to address two areas of deficiency relating to veterans: treatment of service member upon return and funding of the Veterans Administration. STAY TUNED- YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

OUR MEMBERSHIP

$35 a year or $100 for 3 years or applied to the lifetime membership amount to be determined in September. Membership for first year will run from now until the end of 2006. Then membership will run February 1 to January 31 on an annual calendar basis.

OUR RECRUITMENT & GROWTH

We will have a flyer of information about VMFP and Membership forms that you can download, but for now you may use this. We do want to get the word out, but we ask that in your respective states, if you do not have a representative for your state, you contact us. We do want to be aware of the pockets of enthusiasm around the country.

The Temporary Board of Directors has done an incredible job of finding people and donations of resources to continue to move VMFP toward being a force. These days the news can seem very dark and hopeless, but the hard-work and belief that we can make a difference so many have had, gives me hope that I wish to pass on.

Mark your calendars for the September Rollout Conference in the Washington D.C. area for the 2nd or 3rd week of September. We are working on the contracts now, so we will have the exact date soon. This will be where we vote in and accept the work that has been done for the prior six months into making this organization real and ready to change the future for the better. We are planning for speakers and an event that will be reflective of the organization and the location of the conference.
