Letters to the Editor (International Herald Tribune)
Armenians know all too well the consequences of inaction in the face of genocide. Ninety years after the attempted annihilation of our people at the hands of the Turks, we are faced with Turkey's ongoing campaign of denial and world governments that lack the moral vision to take a firm stand on preventing genocide.
As survivors of genocide, Armenians have a moral responsibility to ensure that others do not suffer a similar fate. just as individuals and governments gave relief and provided shelter to our people in the early part of the 20th century , we must not turn our back to those in need in the Darfur region of Sudan.
As individuals and as a community, we should do everything in our power to stop the genocide.
One step we can take is to lend our active and vocal support to the Darfur Accountability Act in the U S Congress. We know the perils of inaction, now is the time for us to take action.
