WASHINGTON — Welcome to May Madness, Washington style.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/na...0,1676721.storyTo me, the Democrats will come out smelling much better on this than Republicans. Republicans will be viewed as pandering to the religious right extremists in their Party, particularly after the comments made by Pat Robertson last week. Democrats will be seen as trying to prevent these extremists from being appointed to judgeships. How can that be a loser?
If the Democrats shut down the Senate, so what? The energy bill and an asbestos litigation bill are BAD BILLS, so Democrats shouldn't vote for them anyway. The filibuster will give them an excuse to avoid voting on them. There is a highway bill, but hasn't Bush threatened to veto it anyway?
