FBI asks US Congress for power to seize documents

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI on Tuesday asked the U.S. Congress for sweeping new powers to seize business or private records, ranging from medical information to book purchases, to investigate terrorism without first securing approval from a judge.

This is a serious step closer to what we may regret in the years ahead as I feel that this will be the proponent to pushing Patriot Act II which will begin destroying the rights of privacy for American citizens. They always give examples of how this will be more effective against 'terrorist' but they do not install provisons to also extend protecting the rights of regular law abiding citizens. I have already heard our Constitution of today being compared to that of the rule by the Nazis during the early '30s. We must keep a very carefull eye on this govt movement against citizens rights.
