Former Dept. of Defense whistleblower claims U.S. planned to plant evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
A retired Navy Lt. Commander and former Department of Defense veteran is going public with allegations that the Bush Administration planned to plant weapons of mass destruction (WMD) evidence in Iraq in order to "prove" Saddam Hussein was manufacturing the weapons. The plan was foiled by mere chance, when friendly fire (stray cruise missiles) took out the team responsible for planting the evidence.
This sort of information definitely falls under the "conspiracy theory" category. Personally, I don't believe in conspiracy theories, except for the ones that are true. I have no way to know if this one is true or not, but I can't imagine the Bush Administration not having a plan to somehow falsify evidence "proving" the entire war was justified. With all those public WMD claims before the war, you would think somebody would be cooking the books to make sure some sort of evidence can be "discovered" and shown to the mass media.

The entire justification of the war on Iraq has been such a hoax that it sure wouldn't surprise me to learn these allegations are true. Presently, however, I can't say that I necessarily believe them.

Overview:

According to a stunning report posted by a retired Navy Lt Commander and 28-year veteran of the Defense Department (DoD), the Bush administration's assurance about finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was based on a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) plan to "plant" WMDs inside the country. Nelda Rogers, the Pentagon whistleblower, claims the plan failed when the secret mission was mistakenly taken out by "friendly fire", the Environmentalists Against War report. "According to Ms Rogers, there was a covert military operation that took place both preceding and during the hostilities in Iraq," reports Al Martin Raw.com, an online subscriber-based news/analysis service which provides "Political, Economic and Financial Intelligence".

The Review states in its 25-page report that it had questioned a key member of the operation. She is identified as “Nelda Rogers, a debriefing officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency.”

I have considerable doubts about this story because it is not showing up anywhere but in a Pakistani and Chinese web site. If this was real reporters would be crawling all over it.

The additional link to to the lightscion site pretty much cinches it with me that it's just some wild tale. That site is run by a guy going by the name of Thomas Deflo who's major contribution to conspiracy theories is extraterrestrials really govern the earth, http://extraterrestrial-life.com , and the JFK assassination conspiracies, http://lightscion.911review.org/disclaimer.htm.

I think Thomas Deflo is just trying to broaden his horizons by including another conspiracy theory to his portfolio.

Umm... well, some of us bloggers in private communications with each other speculated that BushCo would try something like this... months ago.

I'm not in the habit of posting speculation without several reliable sources to cite and/or link as pointing towards a "likelihood". Bloggers are always being put down for not having the integrity of "real journalists" (although I would question the whole concept of "journalistic integrity" these days)... perhaps the criticism of bloggers is well-deserved in some cases, but I do try to have some integrity in what I post, and I almost always cite my sources when available. I don't pretend to be unbiased, however, unlike mainstream media... my bias is readily apparent on my blog, especially in the sidebar. In reality, no one is unbiased and anyone that pretends to be is lying.

I also don't pretend to be a "reporter"... I make commentary and with it comes my own natural biases, but at least I'm honest about that.
