Interesting piece. I hope he is wrong, and I'm sure he hopes he is wrong, but we've watched these people slide out of every situation with the help of Karl Rove. Is it any wonder that Rove is all over the networks this week eating up time? The classic distration tactic.
As for Bock's concern with the word "fix", he needs a little help from our poster Winston Smith who corrected me on that point. He specifically pointed to the fact that the sentence begins with the word "But" which eliminates any other meaning for "fix" than "fix". He also emphasized the need to read all of the memos and information surrounding them to get the big picture.
As for Bush's lack of sincerity that Bock notices, this has bothered me from the beginning. I don't see sincerity in any of his speeches unless he is talking about his wife, only then. I have watched him closely, and teachers have a knack for "reading" children that translates into reading adults. Bush is the child you wonder about who borders on "amoral" with no normal reactions to events or circumstances. I have never seen him speak about the loss of our children in Iraq where I had any sense whatsoever that he meant a word of it.
