There has been much talk in the news the past few days of how Arafat's death creates a renewed opportunity to negotiate a peace in the middle east. It appears that the world is waiting for Bush to send a representative to lead such an effort.
Undiplomatic, arrogant, and inept that he is, Bush could actually do something good here. I'd suggest that he send former presidents Clinton and Carter. Both men have the respect of the world population; both made at least some inroads with the Israelis and Palestinians; both would carry credibility with American Liberals / Democrats / Progressives; both carry credibility with American southerners and Christians.
Here's your chance "W" -- do something that resembles intelligent diplomacy
