Leaves of trees
blanket my bed
A silly old alleycat
keeps watch at my head
These things of nature
a mothers fond child
One chose their own course
wayward and wild
Forsaking the fortune
I've given to life
Replacing with darkness
pollution and strife
I send them warnings
they don't heed or care
Destroying my children
for the public welfare
I stir and storms
sweep in from the sea
Frown and my wrinkles
cause many to flee
Please heed my message
I pray you will hear
Dreams of destruction
my waking draws near
Soon I will strike
no choice to be had
One out of many
their story most sad
Create a companion
my bounty bestow
Instead bringing heartache
man makes me his foeİ

Hi Tank, glad your still around. I didn't realize your the same poet from way back in April that I talked with.

How you doin?

I like this....Tank, nice to see you too. Funny...how the poets found each other.

I'll try one...though I'm not as good at it as you all are!

Friend or Foe

As the cold closes in
and the foe becomes friend

Winter is close at hand
... the sand--

just a memory.

And we know all too well
What a wicked spell
Winter can bring

and we hope soon
it might be Spring

and we'll sing
that old familiar song
and feel as if we belong.

It seems far away in these
hours...today.

It's a sad tell indeed
when so many need
to be told hope was near
and the course to steer
was ours all along

nobody else can show
who is friend or foe.

Mother earth will cry
for the life that dies
deep within her soul
and we know

it is friend and foe.
