To many Democrats has to many skeletons in the closet, that is something i can see even from here, this enables the Fundies and neo-con to muddel the waters at the very least, each and every time their own candidates gets in troubles, and make it easy for Faux news to point fingers each and every time they feel like it.
What is needed is something new and someone new. the old guard is not to get writ off, they are the only ones that can teach the young lions how to behave and what to look out for (IE Dirty tricks)
I will place one possible candidate for the 08 race (NOT president but senator or weep)

Ray Nagin can actually turn into the unifirer that the black caucus seem to lack, since they lack anything unifiring besides that they detest Bush, he is also likely to voe white voters that even in a druken stupor would not even think about voting for Jesse & Co.
He cannot due to the troubles his constintuensy is in, get ready for the 06' election were he might have been a simple shoein in alot of otherwise somewhat secure Rep strongholds.
But he can collect political capital whit his voters if both his legs stay on the ground, and can even be one that MIGHT give LA to the democrats in 08.

The great quistion is of course that i hope his own skeletons (We all have them) is not to obivious and large, and is easily handled.

1) He is goodlooking.(both for men and women) but not overly so.

2) He seems able to command when it comes down to it.

3) He is able to make hard choises and take the consequences.

4) The camera loves the man, something all to many politicians lack.

5) He speaks his mind in an understandable way.

6) He is intelligent. (Always a plus)

7) He actually have empathy. (In a politician thats a rarerity)

8) He seems quite able to admit mistakes, but also to try to retify them.

But that is just me from afar seeing in, what do you think?

I'm curious, is there not somebody else that might be a breath off (relativly) fresh air?
For good reason my knowledge about lokal politicians is rather limitet when it comes to USA.

The term "New Democrat" is not necessarily a positive one. Members of the Democratic Leadership Council are "new Democrats," and I would not necessarily be supportive of someone from this group running for president.

John Edwards may have promise.
