Congressman Dennis Moore (DEMOCRAT - KANSAS) is up for reelection again in 2006.
Republicans probably are a little afraid to waste tons of money again trying to defeat him and get that House seat into GOP hands. So far, no takers as far as Republican opposition.
The man who might oppose him, Republican Adam Taff, is having a leeetle trouble right now and is under investigation. Taff almost beat Dennis once. Things are looking good for Dennis and not so good for Adam Taff.
Dennis is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition in the House of Representatives.
Here are Dennis' listed priorities from his Congressional website. I'll post more about him when I have a chance. He is my Kansas hero. Plays a good guitar too.
My Priorities
Quality Public Schools :
When the No Child Left Behind Act was enacted, Congress and the President made a promise to our schools to provide resources to help them meet a new standard of excellence. The federal government’s refusal to fully fund NCLBA threatens to break this promise. It’s time to fulfill this commitment.
Affordable Prescription Drugs :
The Medicare prescription drug bill enacted into law in December 2003, which I opposed, is flawed and puts profits of special interests ahead of a real benefit for seniors. I will continue to work to correct the defects of this legislation to give seniors the prescription drug benefit they deserve.
Honoring Our Military Personnel :
I'm concerned that we are not doing all that we can to help the families of those who lost their lives serving our county. I have introduced legislation to increase the military death gratuity from $12,000 to $100,000 and would be applied retroactively to all servicemen and women on active duty who have died since September 11, 2001.
