The CGCS Civility Song © 2005
by Michael Sullivan

[C]
You can counter my every argument,

[G]
you can rip my points to shreds,

[D]
you can find a source contrary

[G]
to everything I said!

[C]
You can pin me in a corner

[G]
with your logic and your wit,

[D]
But if you call me names

[C walkdown to G]
you are just a stupid...

(wait a minute that's not what I meant to say)

Oh well...

Civility is a watchword, and it's a way of life,
Civility may be the answer to chaos and strife!
Civility is the golden rule at CGCS
and if you don't agree you are full of...

(whoops, where's that edit button???)

Oh yeah...

Civility can make friends and influence people too,
civility's what your Daddy and your Momma taught to you!
If you want to make a point, it's an essential tool
but if you can't be civil you are just a bloody...

(oh oh here comes a mod)

Oh ****....

You can counter my every argument, you can rip my points to shreds,
you can find a source contrary to everything I said!
You can pin me in a corner, with your logic and your wit,
But if you call me names, you are just a stupid...

But I thought debate was a contact sport! :football:

Where else can I vent when I'm experiencing "raging hormonal imbalances?" I hasten to add that the hormone is "testosterone," because it is not PC to get into "issues" with spider.gif feminists.

Love the song, Michael... You may soon have an alternate career.

Perhaps some aspiring musician can put a tune to it and get it on MTV,
or make a Flash of Michael and the Moderators singing it.

As I have no desire to increase the general level of despair I will pass at any invitation to inflict anyone with my singing.

Ask me about six months ago to sing. smile.gif

I've been trying to improve my voice but allergies have led to quite a strife.

Very cute!

very nice, M. now i must hasten over to read about the incivility song!

Well, so okay about the singing.... You wouldn't want to hear me sing either.

How about if we just grab some old pans and wooden spoons out of the kitchen and keep time? I've got a zen chime, and maybe somone can borrow a slide whistle from one of their kids...

Can I be your agent, when you publish your verse? laugh.gif

Michael my husband composes occasionally. He has several midis which are originals. Do you need a melody ? If so I'll work on him ! laugh.gif

I already wrote a vocal melody and basic guitar parts but if he wants to jam to the chord structure that's cool! You should post some of his midis in the artists and musicians section!

Hi: If you scan the chords and melody, include the tempo, you can send it to me and I will see what I can do for backing tracks. If you want to do that I will have Betty give you my email in a PM.

Took your advice Michael and put a link to one of Les' MP3's in Artists and Musicians

If anyone likes it and wants more I'll add them.

This is one of the ones he has converted from midi to MP3

He does mostly old standards and the occasional original of his own.

All of his music is available on his site. Along with other artists. His site is huge. He has had seven million visitors to date! ( makes my site count of 180,000+ look rather sick in comparison laugh.gif )

Hi Les!

I hope to have a rough draft recording next week! I'll forward it to you in mp3 format and you can mess with it! biggrin.gif

It would be really cool to collaborate with another CGCS member on some music!
(thinly veiled attempt to get you to subscribe... tongue.gif )

Maybe by sharing mp3s we could create a CGCS "virtual jug band" - just take the mp3s, pass them around and have folks add their own tracks until it's made the rounds and then distribute the finished product on the web! I know a lot of pros are working this way to save $ on airfairs, and accomodate busy schedules... why not us???

Hmmm... I like it! laugh.gif

I just thought up two new verses...

Civility will help you when you are irate
because the umpire made a bad call at home plate!
Civility is a virtue, a science and an art,
and if you don't believe me you are a silly...

Being nice to others is certainly the key,
all it takes to grease the wheels is a bit of courtesy.
Then moderating this forum would be nip and tuck
And out of courtesy to all I won't say "What the ....!"

Absomolutely! biggrin.gif
Eugeenie
I might ask, is it civilized
To ramble on of those despised?
This group receives such words of hate
and that one, too, which we berate.

Through avatars, we just might show
Contempt for those we do not know
Or tell of schemes, the ones we chose
To lay all blame on those we loathe

We offer words that do defend
A bigot's words without amend.
And offer forth our words of praise
Through hips, hurrahs and our hurrays

In many ways we show disgust
For groups of people we distrust
Through coded words much is revealed
Even though we thought concealed

You might ignore me. Call this drivel.
But might I ask, just what is civil?
When a group is thus attacked
Is it only uncivil to react?
