WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush vowed on Saturday that the United States "will not run" from Iraq as it did from Vietnam, as he welcomed voting on a new Iraqi constitution and called it step forward for democracy.

---------------
Can anyone tell me what GWB knows about Vietnam?

Yeah, I saw the photo of him sittin' with Richard Nixon and
his daddy at the '72 GOP Convention in Miami Beach and know
what he was doing while some of us were in-country.

If this chickenhawk thinks the US ran from Vietnam,
after 10 years, laying 1 million kills on Asians and suffering
58,000 of our own KIAs, then he is more f-ed up than I thought.

What a cheap shot. Just goes to show he'll say anything,
disparage anyone to cover himself while the stink from
the investigations and incompetence sets in. Man that
radio address fired me up. That simple SOB.

Many others as well as myself have written to the idea that we had the Vietnam war won by late 69. It was a lack of political will that created the scenario that gave the war back to the communists. By 1970 almost all resistance was in retreat, the Viet Cong were destroyed and the North Vietnamese army was all that was left and they were a weakened military with little more than the will left to fight. Nixon like bush kept lying to himself and the American people and in doing so they lost the opportunity the finish off the NVA’s efforts in the south. This is a problem for any chickenhawk, knowing when it’s time to push forward and when it’s time to back off, it is something that comes with experience, it’s not a learned thing. If bush would have studied our military history he could have avoided the mistakes of Nixon, to bad he’s just not smart enough, not nearly as smart as Nixon was and look at the mistakes he made. (Bush study, is that an oxymoron?)

If you can't feel it in your gut...in your blood...you don't get it.
There's something in the blood that rises when it's time,
it's instinctual (as a result of experience) and kicks in all the training.
GWB's got neither instinct-building experience or training.

We could have had a soldier...
we could have been a contender.

Next time...next year...we'll go again. Head-on.
