I know most (a lot ?) of you here have criticized Bush for his environmental policies. The country we all need to be aware of in the future is China:

1. It already consumes more grain, meat, coal and steel than the US

2. By 2031, China will consume 99 million barrels of oil a day. Todays product is 84 million.

3. Half of all rainforest logs go to China. It will consume twice as much paper as the world is now producing.

4. By 2025, China will top the US as the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases.

5. By 2031, China will have 1.1 billion cars if it matches current US trends. The current world fleet is 800 million.

The conclusion of the Greenpeace report is that we are going to have to develop new economic model based on renewable energy, diversified transport and comprehensive recycling.
