I can very much see the possibility of intelligent design in creation. Did not the Bible say that a day in heaven is like a thousand years on earth?
I do not know the answer of how much a divine power is involved in the daily activities on earth or in the universe.
It is not my role or my view to make such decisions.
I have always believed as an adult that ones religious beliefs are ones own. I respect even honor all religions that respect human life. I do not believe that a divine power sanctions inhumanity to others.
Nor do I believe it is my place to say one religion is above another. That is a matter of personal faith.
It is my own very personal belief that if a divine power exists, that spirit would reward worthy souls beyond what specific religion they were a member of.
It can be said I am hedging my bets or even taking a convenient approach to not offend others. That is fair.
I have a Christian background, though some have thought I am agnostic, some have thought I am jewish. I do not debate such views for my religious beliefs are my own and I am secure in them.
I would not punish anyone for their own beliefs, but if these beliefs violate the laws of humans, of governments, as in the tradition of civil disobedience or violation of the rights of others, one must be prepared to suffer the prescribed penalties. This is the price of living within ones conscience.
This does not excuse violence in the name of religion or being violent while one is acting in what an individual believes is acting in good conscience.
there are places where teaching values is appropriate, but the sanctioning of one religion or denomination in a multi-cultural society is not appropriate. I do not believe this discriminates against one faith, but rather respects the views of all faiths.
I cannot help if some think this is inappropriate, if such a higher power exists, it is that power to whom I may answer, not to other persons, for in the eternal in the end we are all equal...

I've never quite understood why there is such debate (and anger) over this issue. Is it so hard to blend the two theories? I think that's the most likely scenario. We know from science that there was a certain level of evolution over time. And we believe from our religious training that God created each creature. They don't have to be mutually exclusive theories! Isn't it equally plausible that God created the first of each species and built into them the ability to adapt and evolve over time to ensure their survival?

I follow more to the thing my granda' said to me. He said that if you look at the size and complexity of the universe, it would be the ultimatet expression of both hybris and hypocrisy if you thought that you understood God and knew what he was and what his goal was.
In simple terms. It/he/she is simply to big to understand.
It is like an tiny ant trying to describe an elephant by lifting one of it's epidureal cells,
