Everyone,
I just read a disturbing article on how Ohio was rigged to go for B*sh. In it, they say that after the election was over, new rules went into effect which disqualified some people's votes because of a lack of a birth date. I hope that we can do something to get these votes counted during the recount! Here is the clip and link to the article:

"Also in Ohio, eligibility criteria for provisional ballots (which are expected to favor Kerry) changed after the election in Cuhayoga County. Ballots without birth dates were ordered to be thrown out even though earlier instructions clearly stated lack of birth date was not a disqualifier."

I believe that this would not fly. You can't change the rules after the fact. I believe that anyone disenfranchised by such change could file a lawsuit which would probably cause the rule to be thrown out. Such games shouldn't be allowed.... but someone will probably have to file a suit to get the rule thrown out.

I also hope that Blackwell didn't shred the ballots. Hopefully they were held back in case someone overruled him. His determination on this was just a few days ago, I believe.

That again? I wish we could end the same stories resurfacing! He HAD made that decision, found out he legally couldn't and dropped the requirement.

11/16/04 (10:23 a.m. ET) - The party seeks to join pending Schering suit, which argues that lack of clear, uniform standards for evaluating the eligibility of provisional ballots violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution

See the above links - I plan to start a new thread on this topic.
