Just a few comments on some of the immediate issues. I just hope we (America) can come out whole on the other side of Bush's tenure in the WH. From 2000 to 2004, I thought that calm heads and brave hearts in our government would win out over the lying and corrupt Bushies; that our country and its laws were strong enough to rise above the incompetence and ignorance and treason of the imposters. But now, the destruction of MY America is closer at hand. From the lying to trick the country into war to the packing of SCOTUS and the Federal Judiciary to the deliberate dividing of this country for their own gain, the Republicans are destroying the base that's given them the power to do so. Without the constant stuffing of corporate funds (obtained by Americans buying their products) into the pockets of Republicans, they wouldn't even have a foot in the door. We have financed our own demise.

The Senate Judiciary Committee reflects the divided nation, a tactic which Bush encourages and uses to the advantage of his political party. The Republicans insist on bringing up Roe v. Wade as the divisive issue with Alito's nomination, when it is really the extensive presidential powers Bush is gaining that any rational person should be concerned about, and that every Democratic Senator voiced grave reservations about.

While gutting Veteran's benefits, ignoring military families and lying to all of us to get the US into a non-winnable war around the world, the military is underfunded and overstretched in favor of Bush's mega-corporate buddies.

Bush's give-aways to the energy industry, his gutting the environment protections that its taken years to gain by concerned people across the country, and his apparent ignorance and derision of science prove that the man has no regard for the American people or our future.

The Republican's theft of two straight presidential elections say it all on the subject of fair elections. With a hard right SCOTUS, the 1st amendment and ALL hard-won civil rights will be gradually eroded. The Bush administration is leading this country back 100 years to when WASP men and WASP men alone held the reins of wealth and power.

Health care in this country is available only for the wealthy. When it costs over $5000 to set a broken arm, one can see that this is very tightly tied to the subject just above this one.

Quite obviously, education for our children and the nation's future is at the bottom of Bush's list. Of course, he and his friends don't have to concern themselves, they can always pick up a maid or a gardener down by the border, and look to their cronies for future employment.

An issue that shouldn't even be in the conversations about politics. The premise of separation of church and state has held us in good stead for over 200 years. Why all of a sudden, since Bush came on the scene, is this such a decisive issue? Diversion and pandering to radicals with deep pockets, IMO.

There isn't an important issue in today's world that Bush and his minions have left unscathed. Everything good about America and our basic values is being eroded at their behest. A curse on them all.
