Bush is going to have his State of the Union speech, and most like Judge Alito will be elevated to the court. Bush is hoping it helps his ratings go up

BUT

Tuesday morning at 830 am eastern, 530pacific time are the Academy Award nominations

So, all the coverage in most people's newspapers on Wednesday morning will be about the Oscar nominations and not the speech.

And you can bet the Wednesday. morning talk shows will be filling up 1/2 the time with tales of Brokeback Mountain and George Clooney

Could we have asked for better timing?

What do you think the general public will care more about talking about?
Lies and half truth from George Bush in his speech? Or who got what nominations?
Noonan
Of course, the fact that the reaction to Bush's speech and the replies by his critics will be buried as well won't help either...

The news will cover Bush and the Academy award nominations. They can chew gum and rub their head at the same time. Bush's goons will be all over the TV and radio to get his message out.

58% now say his presidency has failed (source CNN tonight)

In most cities, there will be several local "Academy" functions. Golly, on an Academy Night, who wants to hear more of the Bush's propaganda and lies? Only those who love lies, or those who are so stupid and can't see a lie when it's being told. dancing.gif

Sure, it is a big deal - especially the worst and depressing era of the times. Oh yes, I can't wait to watch Jon Stewart hosting it. At least one does get a good laugh and wile away a couple of hours watching some real entertainers' creative fare instead of having to cry over dead bodies blown to bits, and having to know that thousands of soldiers are hidden away under rehab. Or watch the Broadcat cable's blockheads, pretending to be entertainers, only to gas off their Right-Wing and Conservative propaganda.
