Toyota's 4 cylinder engine can be summed up in two words Alexander. It sucks.

I had one of these

And it came with an inline six cylinder. a much better power plant than the Toyota 4 cylinder.

There is an interesting story behind why Toyota's inline 6 cylinder engine worked so well. Following WW2 Toyota was licensed by Chevrolet to manufacture Chevrolet trucks in Japan. They manufactured the old 216 CI inline 6 cylinder engine designed by Chevrolet in 1932. Well when Toyota and Chevrolet parted company in the 1950s Toyota kept the tooling to make the Chevrolet engine and used them in their FJ series Land Cruiser.

About 5 years after I had my Land Cruiser I bought a Toyota 4Runner. The 4Runner might have been an OK automobile but it had a high standard to live up to comparing it to the Land Cruiser.

For me it boiled down to two. Either the Toyota Rav4 or Honda CRV.

This is what I bought. She is silver and I had running boards put on for my little dog and my little mother. Looks-wise and for aesthetic purposes it made a difference!

P.S. (I have not used the picnic table yet but I like knowing it is there just in case....)
