In the U.S. Congress is a House seat worth more'n the chance to take back the Senate? Methinks this just might be short sighted. Then again, 'twould seem to be in step with Democrats strategy in recent elections, eh?
Full Version: Democrats urge Hackett to leave Senate race
Reading from the above link, it would appear that the Dems think another Dem will beat Hackett in the senate primary- so he would be better off to run against Jean Schmit for the House seat, where he has a better chance to win. Strategy is to win both the Senate seat and the House seat. Typical politics. *sigh*
Methinks folks've noticed how much uglier the Senate's become since so many have come over from the House. Not sure 'bout in Ohio, but here the general population've let our Congress critters here know 'twouldn't be looked on kindly if they was to run for the Senate.

My thoughts are twofold: 1) the impeachment process starts in the House, so they need to do whatever is necessary to regain a majority. T'would seem Hackett could probably clean Schmitt's clock, assuming the GOP even lets the bitch run again; and 2) they have a fairly viable candidate for the Senate even if Hackett drops, but they don't have a candidate (yet) capable of beating Schmitt if Hackett doesn't run against her.
Bit of a Hobson's choice if you ask me.
I'm with Winston here. I don't see him winning the primary as it is, but from what I read, he has a better shot at the House race, now that the voters have seen what they voted into office.

Hackett is a populist more than he is a Democrat. He went into this for all the right reasons, and those reasons haven't changed.
Like I said above, my guess is that Reid thought he'd have a better chance to get into the House- and he'll be able to do more damage. Impeachment starts in the House, and (to be honest) even if the Republicans keep the Senate, I think there are enough moderate Republicans in the Senate to convict- if the House impeaches.
Let's start a letter writing campaign with Hackett. I live in CA but sent him $$ for both his House and Senate campaigns. He respects the people who got him to where he is- and I don't think he's in it for the politics.
He really needs to run for the House, and we need him there. Even us on the Left Coast need him!

Just checking the districts for Ohio for the house,there are 3 districts open for Hackett if he decides to run and they are OH-07,OH-08 and OH-16. And the deadline to file is the 16th this thursday.
