Another negative feature of Medicare Part D - I discovered today - is that you cannot order any more than a thirty day supply for a Rx even though the script is written for use over a time period like six months.

I had my statin changed in order to get the lower co-pay, it would have been $58 for pravachol that I was taking previous to Part D, zocor and lipitor only have one-half that for co-pay so after consulting with PCP changed to the lipitor. Took first script for 30 days with no problems, called the pharmacy, left refill order on their voice mail, requested order be doubled to 60 tabs for 60 days. When I went to pick up the refill I was told the fine print details, only permitted to refill for 30 day supply.

This doesn't seem to be a sensible rule, I don't want to make more frequent runs to the pharmacy, I would actually prefer to get a 90 day supply of standing Rx's - if all your meds aren't timed to the same periods one could be running quite frequently to get this minimal amount, not exactly what one needs when chronically ill, or the additional waste of gasoline.

Mort Sahl said that Medicare Part "D" is so complex and difficult to understand that the only person to qualify is Dick Cheney.
