Thought it was time for a change but I just couldn't find anything I liked. So I'm going with the "Stop to smell the flowers" theme for awhile.

When are you leaving on your trip? It sound really exciting.

I don't think I'll ever go to Europe. The plane ride just doesn't appeal to me at all. I think my max is 4 hours and then I start figeting. I've always thought that it would be a blast to take the train but not the modern ones. The ones with the sleeping berths and separate compartments. Maybe I've been watching to many old (and I do mean old) movies.

Well, the flu bug has officially hit the Noonan household. Both kids went to the doctor and the tests came back as flu. Despite getting the flu shot this year, the doctor says most of the cases they are seeing are kids that got the shot. The mad rush to make sure your kid got the shot seems to have produced this: the shot was administered so long ago, it's not working any more.

The wife and I are now on Tamiflu, which our insurance company doesn't cover, so I'll be fighting that fight today.

Feelin' better, not good, but better. Methinks drownin' this bug in OJ, chicken soup and grapefruit juice might actually be workin', and 'tis good 'cause my next couple days are gonna be busy with Girl Scout stuff.

Actually did wear a surgical mask for our meetin' last night, but over half the troop was out with this same nasty bug. Hope they all get well soon and we don't have anymore go down with it 'cause we got our biggest fundraiser of the year on Saturday.

Guess I'll hafta play catch up later, gotta go turn in a couple grand from individual cookie sales and then see how many cases of Girl Scout cookies we can cram into my van. Hope the weather's good where ever y'all are at. Enjoy the day, be safe, stay well and remember to play nice!

Good Morning to all you great people .. and you are exactly that btw. How I could have waited so long to find this out I'll never know. These past few days have been rough but the kind words here have brightened moments for me more than you can know. A special thanks to Brookie.

Les had a good night and actually slept. He is nearing the end of the siege and with no sign of another heart attack. That was my biggest worry. He has had two minor ones during past attacks. He has been through so much in the past five years that he has no tolerance left at all for the pain and the Dr has said that is a danger when these spells hit. I don't take my eyes off him as a result when he is in the midst of one.

Because I wanted to be absolutely certain the worst was over I spent most of the night awake, so used the time productively.

Some of you will not appreciate it but some may. To those who don't... make allowances... I'm a stubborn old dame and set in my ways but mean no harm.

The Madness begins in my household as well. I must admit I'm into it. Already have one of my brother in laws coming over Saturday morning to watch the Manhattan game, hopefully an upset., but probably not, since their ace player is injured. Tell Mr. Pie I'm with him starting tonight. And I'm off to the grocery store to load up with eats and treats for my son - all the things I gave up for Lent as I have been on a diet. And you are right, I would love to see the games at the MCI Center - he is going to have the chance to see UConn play. The only time I have been to NCAAs were the NCAA semi finals in 1976 with some of the NBA biggest stars: saw UCLA vs. Rutgers and Michigan State vs. Indiana in Philadelphia. And that was great. We were rooting for UCLA, who lost in those games, but had seats four rows from the floor in the UCLA section. It was amazing. Once you have had the opportunity to sit near or on the floor, you are spoiled for life. Now I dream on. The Snuff

MrPie has settled in already ! Watching Florida (unfortunately not Florida State). He's hunkered in for the long haul- tho I am sure it will fly by for him ! tongue.gif

Florida State has not had a good b-ball team in years. But when we were there (back in the dark ages), FSU went to the tournament as an underdog. They beat the powerhouse of North Carolina in the semi-finals ! And then played UCLA for the championship (we lost but they had home court advantage wink.gif ). We always regretted not driving out to LA for those games... we were going to get up a caravan of FSU students & grads. Should have done it while we were young and free. happy.gif Nothing like b-ball up close.

Winston, trust me, the American public does not want to read this paper. laugh.gif I think you would give the poor kid an "F" - he is not a good writer. "Just the facts, M'am" type of a guy.
Fortunately, this is a night class (fewer full time, top notch students) and the class is taught by
a PhD student who cannot even write a complete sentence. I read the course syllabus and went into despair for the future of education. cool.gif

All you can eat corned beef and cabbage? Might be worth exploring as a way to achieve energy independence. Not only would people like Marine be happy campers but the US could once again become a gas exporter. The ozone layer over Texas might become a thing of the past but thems the breaks.

Betty, methinks 'tis a saintly person we got in our midst, and you add much to the mix here. I'm really glad you chose to check us out, and stayed.

Happy St. Patty's Day to all my Irish friends and all of you wish you were....

Here's an old Irish prayer...May those who love us love us, for those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts so they do love us. For those who still do not love us, may God turn their ankles...so we will know them by their limping.

Guess 'tain't so bad havin' been born on March 17th. Otherwise I woulda been a Stanislaus, eh?

Whilst everyone else's gettin' excited 'bout the basketball tourney whittlin' teams down to the Sweet Sixteen methinks March madness means somethin' different to a couple of us. 'Tis time to get thngs rollin' towards the Frozen Four!

Seems to be the herd's missin' again. Somebody leave the gate open out to the purple sage country?

I gotta go try to get a good night's sleep for a change. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day, even though 'tis someone's birthday.

Oh so good.  But my problem is that I am the only one in my household who likes corned beef and cabbage.  The quorum don't like the smell of it cooking.

Really glad to see you up and about shootin' skunks with 00-buck, Master Guns...

Hope you can join me for a virtual dinner :clover:

That is an improvement, however, a distinquished writer and orator such as yourself should have a very dignified avatar.

I've been to your humble little abode before and it is a great site CO.  I stumbled across the 2 Wolves about a month ago, thought about posting it here and didn't.  I'm glad you put it on your site.

I loved it when I found it and used it as the focus of the page , separating it from my text so it would hopefully be obvious that I hadn't written it, but about an hour after I uploaded it I remembered I hadn't pointed it out as being written by an unknown author for those who wouldn't understand the separation, so amended it with a notation on the bottom of the page and re uploaded it in case any thought I had been the author of the parable.

I was tired when I posted the link and didn't think until I saw Pie's post and remembered I hadn't added that note at the bottom of the page. I meant to come in and post Pie in case she was giving me the credit but had to take Les to the doctor and was rushing.. and then forgot when I got back home. Do you think old age has got me ?

The rest of the page was all me .. outspoken and blunt as usual. Funny, most who visit my site, and there have been well over 100,000, are from the US, and a lot from the south and midwest, and I have not had one single nasty message in my guest book about my political writing.

Of course, I do warn them on my opening page that there is political content and opinion as well as lighter fare etc so maybe they skip those pages. dancing.gif

You guys really get into St Patricks Day don't you !

We don't make as big a thing of it in Canada. Its recognized but not officially in any capacity.

Maybe we have more Scottish ancestors than Irish, although my family does have Irish in the bloodline. My grandmother was a Kennedy.

Oh, my- what a rude awakening. I wondered where you were today.
Glad Michael fixed things.

Boy am I glad tomorrow is St Patricks day.  A resturant in town has a special going, all the corned beef and cabage you can eat.  I always overdose on those opportunities.  Just call an ambulance when my eyes roll back.

MrPie cooked himself up a batch (without any potatoes due to his diet)
and ate it 3 nights in a row. pinch.gif Since I am not a fan of corned beef, I ate burgers.

You don't look anything like that old dinosaur and you don't sound like one.  I must be slipping, couldn't figure out who Tweety was.  doh.gif
...
Now about Marine's and having a commune down there.  Well, have you all given some thought as to what kind of "duty" that might entail.

laugh.gif Love the avatar for WS. thumbsup.gif (Woof ! Woof ! , WS) laugh.gif

And joe does not look a bit like that dinosaur. tongue.gif

ohmy.gif ohmy.gif Nope: did not give a thought to what duties we might be assigned at the commune. laugh.gif I can water and feed chickens, though... but am not mechanically inclined at all. (note there has been no invitation- nor an opportunity to speak with MrsMarine)

Nice that Pop dropped by to sing a blues tune.
And glad Fly is getting some spunk back.

And to Betty- glad to see you posting. smile.gif It was clear to me that the wolf quotes were not yours and I so enjoy your site.
