Pace: Things ‘Going Very, Very Well’ in Iraq

Some 1,500 Iraqis have reportedly died in sectarian violence in the last two weeks. Iraqi insurgents continue to carry out roughly 70 attacks each day, and the number of Iraqi battalions capable of fighting without U.S. support has fallen to zero.

In other words, says Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter Pace, things are “going very, very well”:

QUOTE
RUSSERT: If you were to be asked whether things in Iraq are going well or badly, what would you say? How would you answer?

PACE: I’d say they’re going well. I wouldn’t put a great big smiley face on it, but I would say they’re going very, very well from everything you look at.

Perhaps Pace also thinks the civil war is actually a good thing, or possibly just a creation of the media.

Sure smells like talking point directly controlled by Rove and Melman.IMHO

I listened with awe that the top military would march to a false commander-in-chief political line - but then the DOD has morphed into a tool for political war and not security of the nation and national defense - they are playing political offense they think.

They better rethink. There are signs of America coming out of its 9/11 induced coma.

Somebody wants me to read a 'train book'. You might try Crooks and Liars later today. As ReddHedd says in a post I placed here, where would we be without that place?

I don't recall any specifics about him saying anything precise about what is so good, especially after being challenged with figures pointing out the poor Iraqi forces, etc. that are quoted in my original linked post.
